What happens when the sin that once convicted us no longer bothers us?
In “When Sin Stops Being Funny,” we explore James 4:9–10 and the danger of becoming comfortable with sin. Genuine repentance calls us to stop making excuses, let conviction reach our hearts, and reconsider what we celebrate.
Repentance goes deeper than embarrassment or regret. It means seeing sin honestly and responding to God with humility and change.
But the message does not end in sorrow:
“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” — James 4:10 (KJV)
God’s conviction calls us back to Him. When we humble ourselves, we can trust Him to lift us up.
Scripture: James 4:9–10
Supporting passages: Psalm 51:3–4; Joel 2:12–13; Luke 18:13; Ecclesiastes 7:3
Reflect: Is there something you have grown comfortable excusing that God is calling you to surrender?
