Following Jesus will cost us something—but Christ is worth everything.
In Luke 18:28-30, Peter reminds Jesus that the disciples have left everything to follow Him. Jesus answers with a powerful promise: no sacrifice made for the kingdom of God is unseen, and no one who surrenders for His sake will ever be left without His faithful reward.
“Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.
And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,
Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.”
— Luke 18:28-30 (KJV)
Discipleship is costly. Obedience may require sacrifice. But God is fully able to honor everything surrendered for His kingdom. Whatever following Jesus asks of us, He is worthy—and in the end, it is worth it.
